One of my most treasured artform is Ganjappa (Ganjifa or Ganjife in Persian)
This is unfortunately an extinct artform. It is a subset of Pattachitra. These are essentially a deck of playing cards made using Pattcahitra designs and themes. If you had to buy a deck of these cards today it will be quite a chase. Artisans do not make these anymore because of lack of interest and the amount of time and effort it takes to create a single deck.
Traditionallt it s a set of 80 or 120 circular cards. for this workshop we will learn to create 10 main cards using watercolor paper and acrylic paints. You will learn how to draw the Dashavatars (10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu) over a span of 3 sessions, 2 hrs long each.
This workshop does not require me to send you any supplies so anyone can attempt it from any part of the world. All you need is a few sheet s of good quality water color paper, acrylic paints and brushes. You can mount these cards in a frame to display or extend and create the entire deck to play this unique card game...endless possibilities.
